Custom Reporting - Away from Crystal Reports

We are looking to move away from Crystal Reports but are not sure what to move to. How do you create custom reports from NXT (web view only)? Do you use SKY API or something else? Are there any options other than Power BI or Tableau?

This is what I do for my org:

    1. Power Automate using SKY API to data sync every 4 hours into Azure Data Warehouse
    2. Power BI connecting to data warehouse to load data needed for any specific reports
    3. Power Automate that creates a "report landing page" that loads all the Power BI into it
    4. SKY Add-in to load the report landing page onto RE NXT

    User experience:

    1. User login to RE NXT
    2. Click on the report landing page from the homepage of RE NXT
    3. report landing page shows various reports, description and provide a search by keyword for various report
    4. user click report they want to see, and it loads the Power BI for that report
  • @Alex Wong is it sufficient for just a single user to have a Power BI Pro (and Power Automate) licence to achieve this, or does every viewer need one / do you need an organisation Power BI Premium account? I can swing the former with my management, but can't get the budget for either a Premium licence or more than 2 Pro Licences.

Power Automate license you only need 1 or 2 depending on how who(s) plan to have access and work on it.

Power B license is more complex, which depends on how many people need access to it. You will need a license for creating/editing and viewing the Power BI.

For my org of ~200, we use Power BI Pro license, which I think is ~$5 per user per month. I think it's good option unless you have a lot more users making this option too expensive.

  • Hi Jasmine, I sent you a message. I'm a Blackbaud partner with an easy alternative to both Crystal Reports and Database View.
