Good morning,

I have 2 questions I am looking for some help on -

1. I am looking for Donors who have given, but are New Donors to a certain program within annual. Example - Foundation Donors but new to DM program in a timeframe.
2. Returning donors within the annual program - Foundation Donors who gave to DM, did not give within a time period, and then gave again to DM within a new time frame.

Hoping someone can help me build these (I have an idea and just want to make sure I am on track) @Elizabeth Johnson suggested I try here.

@Jamie, you should be able to pull the lists using a constituent query based on the criteria you listed.

This is quick reply - don't know how experienced you are with queries. You need to include all your filters of fund, amount, dates. I'm assuming you have exact dates you are looking at for all your date ranges.

1. Summary info > Gift > total amount greater than $1 any date AND First gift filtered to fund and date range.

Second question

a. Gift info filtered to gift to annual program Summary gift amount >$1 date range before time that they didn't give (Is this a fund? appeal? campaign - how this annual program gifts are identified will determine needed filter),

b. Summary gift info gift amount for annual program $0 within date range AND

c. summary info gift amount for annual program >$1 within other date range.

There are other filters you may need like gift type - are you considering pledges or only payments? Etc.

Assuming "program" means fund…

• Constituent Query Criteria
  • Summary of gift amount > 0
    • gift date less than the beginning part of the "period" you stated
    • Fund not equal to the "program"
  • AND Summary of gift amount > 0
    • gift date between "period" you stated
    • Fund equal to the "program"

this is for #1

For #2, use the same logic and try to come up with the additional logic.

Hi Jamie! So glad you posted here! Two great responses from two community all stars!

One other idea for the New donor is to start with setting up the new donor standard report and generate a query for you and then work with that. Just sharing this as you said you had ideas and if that happened to be one of them it is a great way to land a query with the criteria set in the report.
