Why has the Actions tab been changed!?

Why change things that don't need changing?

In the Action tab, the main box is now tiny (why!?) and when clicking on the heading it now doesn't provide the dropdown of previously used titles (why!?)

I get that the main box can be made bigger but WHY have it so small in the first place? And why have it default back every time you go into an action?
And the dropdown of previous headings is very helpful when sending receipts for the same funds, it makes it much faster than having to manually type out the same heading over and over....

Is it just mine having a sudden glitch or has it been changed across the board….?

Hi all, thanks for the reports and the comments! We've released a couple changes to resolve the behaviors you mentioned:

    • The Notes field is now expanded again to its original size.
    • The Type field is now wider to better display its values.
    • We also corrected a few minor spacing issues in the "Add action" form.

As a couple folks pointed out, RENXT doesn't store previous entries for the Summary field, so this is likely caching that occurred on a browser level. It may have coincided with a browser update that cleared out the cache.

When you say "dropdown of previously used titles/"previous headings" what do you mean?

  • Totally agree - I have had multiple fundraisers complain to me already this morning and asking what is going on! The biggest issue is that it no longer saves previously used subjects / headings - i.e. when you start typing it used to pop up with recently used ones so that you could be consistent with your headings, and these no longer appear. I have some unhappy team members & will have less usable data :'(

  • This is happening at my organization as well and everyone absolutely hates it. I am so sick of these totally unhelpful changes. There was absolutely no need to do this and we got no warning from Blackbaud. Ridiculous.

I would like some more details like @Rachel Cavalier, but if you are entering the same action on multiple records, I would recommend RedArc's One to Many. The functionality is great and the price is perfect: free!

  • Hi @Ange Scott thanks for taking the time to post and letting us know what you are seeing. I'm currently checking with my team to see if this was an intended change. I'll report back here when I find out the information.

  • Thank you @Suzie Capps for providing these details as the team is also looking into this. Thank you for making us aware!

    Hi Rachel

Previously you could click on the Title (now summary) box and a dropdown list would appear of previously used titles, which you could just click on to auto-populate the box instead of typing the heading out each time. It was great for appeals!

  • Thanks Crystal.

I figured this was another update that we hadn't been made aware of, but if it's a glitch (hopefully), then fingers crossed it will be put back to how it was
    Many thanks!

I had no idea that this existed in web view! I don't think I've ever had a drop-down list of previous summary text when I'm adding an action in my browser but I know I get it when I'm using the Outlook plugin when logging emails.

  • Thanks for the info, @Crystal Bruce! Our fundraisers have also complained that this update creates more work for them. Good to know Blackbaud is aware and looking into it!

I am late to this, but could this be the result of a browser automatically populating field data, and not a change from Blackbaud? I've heard that complaint from people before, so just offering another possibility.

That's what I'm thinking as well, though perhaps something changed on the RE NXT end that made their browser's autofill function stop working for the subject box.

Chrome recently had a major autofill upgrade if that is the browser that is being used.

  • Thanks Karen.

Possibly, but nothing has changed on my browser (I use Firefox primarily), whether I'm in the office or working at home, and even if I switch to Chrome or Edge browsers, the previously used headings would always pop up in a dropdown as I started typing. I've just tried all 3 browsers and it's definitely gone.

The look of the Actions tab has also changed, so I think it must've been some BB change that has caused it.. I hope with David's updates that it comes back, as it is causing a lot of frustration :D

  • Hey @Megan Unrau -

Thank you for taking the time to share this feedback. Submitting a support ticket is still the most reliable way to report a suspected issue. Tickets are tracked, assigned a case number, and routed to the teams who can actually investigate and escalate. When you submit a ticket, please include as much detail as possible (steps to reproduce, screenshots, error messages).

Community is also a great way to report issues because it does two useful things: it lets other users confirm whether they're seeing the same issue (which helps us prioritize), and it gives our team visibility into patterns that might not show up as clearly in individual tickets.

I'll be sure to pass along your point about chatting with support. Thanks again as every comment like yours helps us improve our processes!

  • Thank you @Suzie Capps for the idea to look into a different pathway for bug reports. I'll definitely pass along to my team!

  • @Megan Unrau

Hi Megan, I am checking with my team to see if there is an update to your support case. I'm also passing along your feedback - thank you for letting me know!

  • Same experience here. Clear cache and cookies, create a .HAR file, send me the URL, try it on another browser, try it on a computer outside your work network, etc. The number of steps we are asked to complete to simply verify that a problem exists is daunting and a significant waste of time. When the problem is confirmed the suggestion is to add something to the Idea Bank. It is hard to lift issues when support options are a closed loop.

  • Gosh I hate creating the HAR files! I had to another one for support yesterday :'( In total it took me about 50 minutes on a chat to a support agent to report a bug in NXT dashboards which meant I couldn't click any of the filter buttons.

I wish it could work like support with any other system / CRM I know where you can just hop on a screenshare with support and they can see what you can see!

I did hop on a screenshare with someone from BB on Monday night to show them how the address fields in web view were broken but it did still take a while - I think the supporter person who was helping me was only really able to record the problem and feed it back rather than offer any kind of solution though.
