Updates to Query and Export in Web View

During the InsideTrack session in March, focused on updates to Query and Export, the changes were planned for release in Q3 of 2026 (July–September). Is this still the timeline? Does anyone know an exact date for this release? It can sometimes be a scramble to send out relevant information to our teams, when we don't know an exact date of when new functionality will be available, and only see it in the 'What's New' update when it is available.

  • Hi, Heather. There's no exact date. The purpose of an Early Adopter Program, which the new Export is in, is to test and continue to develop the experience in light of real-world working conditions. That's going on now, so the exact timing will ultimately depend on how things go during the EAP and how much additional work the EAP participants recommend to the BB Product Management team to implement before they think it's ready for prime time. Trust me, as a consultant who tries to help clients implement new changes to the web view, I get your sentiment, but exact advanced dates and timing aren't possible given the give and take involved in an EAP.

My personal recommendation is to not stress about this one for you or your team. As nothing will be going away in the db view when this is released in the web view, and Query in the web view is expected to work after Export's release just as Query in the web view does now with only the smallest of changes, it should be easy enough when we get the notice to tell your team what the tiny changes are for Query to not be surprised about and then to take your and your team's time learning and rolling out Export in the web view.

    Hope that helps some.

  • @Bill Connors Thank you! This makes sense and is very helpful.

  • @Bill Connors Thank you for this information. Do you have any idea of how long the database view will be available after the Export functionality is available in WEB view? We have many Exports to reproduce in the WEB view once the functionality is available and just want to make sure there is enough time to do that.

  • Blackbaud had clearly and repeatedly said nothing will be turned off in the db view until the whole db view is turned off, and that's scheduled for "late summer 2027" if you're in the Northern Hemisphere, "late winter 2027" if in the Southern. You'll have until then, and given that web view Export (not going to be called that, but that's what it is) is in Early Adopter Program now, I assume it will be out this year. So you'll have months and months to make the transition. Plus, BB has said at some point there will be a migration tool to move your db view exports to their equivalent in Query in the web view so you don't have to create them manually one export, one field at a time. I think you'll be fine based on what we know now, I wouldn't worry about it. 😊 That help?
