Project Summary report help needed

I am trying to create a report that has the projects down the left side (I can do this in the income statement by summarizing projects, no problem), but then has the Beginning Net Assets, Revenue, Expense, Ending net assets as columns.

I can get the revenue and expense to work, and add in a formula for revenue less expense, but I cannot get the beginning balance to work. The closest I get is check the box to show beginning and ending change in net assets, but that creates report sections, not columns.

I saw it created in a learning video, but they didn't actually show the column formula they used.

Can anyone help with the column parameters that will bring in Beginning balance, revenue, expense, ending balance, all in summary by project (one row for each project)?

@Jill Knowland I would start with the Custom Management Report. It's first column actually shows the project ID's. It does all the columns you're looking for by default and you are still allowed to add / edit columns as well.

Where do I find the Custom Management Report in FENXT? I would like to combine some projects together to get a summarized total and other projects are stand-alone. is that possible?

  • @Jill Knowland Were you able to create this report? I am looking for similar guidance.

No. There doesn't seem to be an option for the custom management reports in the FEnxt web version. I used to be able to do this in the database version when they used Crystal Reports.

I have not figured out how to do this in FEnxt (even though it was shown in a video). It's frustrating because I have to use the version where the revenue and expenses work, export to excel and pull the beginning balances from a different report to plug into the exported excel version of the first report.

I'm going to see if I can do it with a query or dashboard. There must be an easier way. I miss the database version for it's flexibility.

  • Ah. I have only known web version, but I have been trying to create a report that works like this for a while now. Thank you for responding!

There is a custom management report option in reporting in FE NXT. I have successfully used it to create a customized detailed columnar version of what you are discussing in this thread. Please PM me and we can set up a time to meet on Teams or Zoom to review where you can find it in FE NXT Reporting.
