@Julie games I think the question would be how you are going to store this information. This might be a note, and perhaps a title. There is no specified place for that information.

@Julie games Since we deal with veterans at our museum, we have an attribute category called Military History/Connect with various drop downs such as WWII VET, Family Member - WWII Vet, Army, Navy, Veteran-Not WWII, etc. But this information has to be inputted into your system by staff members as Dariel stated. Putting this in attributes makes it easy to query off of. But there is not magical place to find out if someone was in the military.

We absolutely use attributes/custom fields to capture this and it has worked well for us :)

@Julie games We were considering adding it as a note when for us we realized for most of our records it was already recorded as an Org relationship / employer. So, we dropped the note and just added to the couple of missing records.

If you have as org relationship, maybe that is enough. Just what we found.

@JoAnn Strommen We are a military non-profit and we track these as attributes. We include things like years and location (when given) in attribute comments, or notes (if lengthy). We also use prefix for title/rank and suffix for branch when they give it to us.
