Sharing my Power Automate template: Email Inactive Unmark Primary

- Description: Using a Constituent List that has the records selected with emails that are marked Inactive and Primary, this will uncheck Primary. While this is possible to do manually in database view, webview will not allow you to deselect Primary if there is only one email address. This automation means you will not have to look up each record to manually make the change.

This automation does not send notification of any records changed, therefore it is advisable to test this on a small set of records (including some which have multiple emails) and review them, so you are aware of the change that occurs.

Thanks for the BB Power Automate User Group for input in completing this.

is this temporary and will change? “While this is possible to do manually in database view, webview will not allow you to deselect Primary if there is only one email address” Is there a vote on this in ideas?

  • @Carline Senior I have not seen anything in the Idea Bank to change how this functions. I believe web view has always been this way (at least I've known about it for five years).

  • @Chris Zello Thank you so much for sharing this! I am new to using power automate and this worked like a charm! I updated the filters to include deceased and inactive constituents but it doesn't seem to be working. Any suggestions? Also, do you have another flow to do the same for inactive and primary phones? Thanks again!

@Paula Pack This formula doesn't mark deceased records. I have to go back to my query to identify those to manually mark them. I wasn't able to figure out a way to get it to mark the deceased records with emails to remove Primary. Glad to hear you were able to use this formula. And I haven't created a similar flow for phones.

for constituent list, it auto exclude deceased and inactive record, you have to explicitly filter to include decease and inactive.
