Setting up Project Codes

We have been using Financial Edge for many years but have not historically utilized project codes. Beginning next fiscal year, we are planning to implement project codes to better track items such as restricted funds in Raiser’s Edge, summer programs, athletic teams, and other special initiatives.

Would anyone be willing to share their project code list, structure or numbering system? I’m working through how best to design the framework so it remains flexible, scalable, and useful for future additions. Any examples or lessons learned would be greatly appreciated.
