Editing appeal in the Gift record -- NXT
I had this question today from our gift processor — how to change the Appeal on a gift in NXT. This can be done in database view easily enough, but we're encouraging users to move away from RE7; this is one of the workflows we don't have a plan for because it doesn't seem to be possible.
When we go to a gift rcord and use the Edit menu, on some records it allows us to edit the Gift Amount (where we can add/change the appeal) and sometimes it's only Constituent. I've read on the KB this could be due to the gift being posted, but why would this then be available in E7?
I'm wondering if this is on the roadmap, I don't recall seeing anything about this specifically.

If a gift is posted in RE7 db, we are not able to edit appeal. Only in unposted.
Unless one goes to the db adjust gift for a posted gift, then one can edit appeal. Adjust is still in the plans for web view. Not there yet.

Ah, that makes sense then. So if I follow correctly this will be less of an issue as we start posting more gifts in web view, where we'd be able to edit the appeal?
In the meantime I understand there are a number of improvements to gift records coming this year, so we'll be patient. :)

Whether in DBV or WV, all posted gifts must be updated through the Adjustment feature rather than just changing it on the git.
There is the ability to unpost gifts in WV & DBV on the rare occasion you need to do so, but I recommend you become familiar with how to do gift adjustments.1 -

I am curious about the gift adjustment response given - I cannot adjust the APPEAL in RE7 db, only the fund.

Look at the split gift tab. You should be able to adjust appeal there. (with notes above regarding posted/not posted)
