RE NXT Standard Report issues

We run Financial reports in database view that are easy to download into excel spreadsheet format and they download very quickly. I am trying to run these reports i RE NXT but am finding that the reports take so much longer to run and also I only have option to run as csv or pdf. CSV does not give me totals or headers. I can run as pdf and then try and convert the PDF to excel but I can't figure out how to get rid of the page headers on every other page but the first page. I am finding the transition from database view to be very frustrating. Anyone else have luck with standard reports?

I just ran a gift and detail summary report in RE NXT that had 286 gifts and it ran pretty quickly and I only had headers at the top of the excel sheet like you are supposed to. Not sure what you are referring to. But yes, you have to total up the amounts. You may need to be a little more clear on this though.

My only option for output format is pdf or csv. Is there an excel option?

Sorry, I meant CSV, but I had no issue.

  • Yes - I can download as CSV but that option does not give me totals or a gift count. So I was hoping someone else had figured out how to replicate what we got from database view. I feel like we are not getting the same functionality.

You will not get totals from any of those reports in RE NXT with CSV, only the PDF.

  • From Database view I am easily able to export the pdf report as excel format. That way it gives me the totals. That is the option I am missing in RE NXT.

I just don't like the way the reports carry over in Excel in database view. I find it not too clean for me.

I highly doubt you'll see Excel as an option, as there has been a decision to move away from Microsoft formats (notice you don't see Word or .docx as an option either). I thought there was an option to include headers though. I don't know about the totals, but that's a simple formula.

  • I am glad it wasn't just me - I think it takes longer too and more steps as well. I use the preview function as well to check my totals to reconcile to our financial data. For our audit and reconciliations I have to get it to excel but now have to manually run totals and add a header. A lot more time!!

And this is why I am still using DBV to run all my reports. Having only a csv export for Excel is very frustrating since it drops the leading zeros and most/if not all of our funds start with a zero. Also theres no totals on the reports and I can't preview before running. I tried using it the other day, I ran about 20+ reports before getting what I was looking for.

There are ideas in the idea bank about this, go vote for them!!! Here are some:

NXT Reports need ability to preview report/

Find a way to preview report results before downloading

Export File types on Standard reports in Web view needs to include more than pdf and csv

Export in WebView (within Query) needs to have more that just .CSV and .XLSX output formats available.

    NXT needs to be faster

Provide, at a minimum, the same functionality in NXT as in Database View
