Stewardship tasks tracking

Our Stewardship team is wanting a way to track tasks for recognition, such as removal of signage or due dates for various tasks.

We had told them to use actions in RE NXT, but they seem reluctant and want a way to see 'the big picture' a month or so at a time. I thought perhaps a calendar could be connected with power automate from the actions in RE NXT, but I haven't investigated that yet - that's my next task.

I haven't seen any add-ins for RE NXT for this type of request, but I thought I would reach out in case others are using any third party solution or any power automate tricks?

I would love to hear how you are handling stewardship/recognition tasks at your organization.

Thanks,

Taisha

  • I can see how that would be helpful. I'm not aware of anything native to RE or any third-party apps, but this would be a great idea for the Idea Bank.

Keep in mind that if there is reluctance to use Actions in RENXT, the inability to see them as a calendar view may not be the actual issue. I've been in this battle plenty of times and there are a lot of excuses.

@Taisha Elliott I 100% agree with @Karen Diener there may be some reluctance to use Actions in RENXT.

That being said, I do think there is a way that you could write to a calendar via Power Automate if you have those skills or want to learn them.

For each action, if the dates are unlikely to change, there is the option to add to calendar. The big caveat here is that if the action changes at all, it is not synced to your calendar and won't be updated.

The final option that may work is the Action Detail Report in Standard Reports. It can even be scheduled to send to them, no Power Automate needed.

  • Thank you for the suggestions! I agree that the reluctance to use RENXT is definitely playing a part in this and it yes it's always a battle.

  • Great point. Yes, there is reluctance to use RENXT and Actions instead of Notes. From the perspective of a Call Center or a Fundraising team, Actions are a must-use feature. Principally, when you use Action custom fields to customize them to your internal processes, mixing with Queries for dynamic lists that can provide you with a filtered and ordered list of tasks and donors. Moreover, you can use the option "Send to Outlook 365 calendar" for a better visualization and integration. I have recently streamlined and centralized processes using this combination, avoiding the back-and-forth of emails and the inclusion of extra staff in the procedure. There is still a lot to explore in Actions. Thank you for your participation and for the opportunity to discuss this topic.

  • @Taisha Elliott Does your team use Work Center in NXT? Showing them how to filter by action type is so handy! And then they can sort by action type/date. I'm curious why folks are reluctant to use Actions — if it's the layout or some other issue.

  • @Lenny Zimmermann I'm not sure what the reluctance is. It may be a lack of knowledge regarding the sorting and filtering options which then we might be able to address. It may just be the reluctance to enter in actions or data in general. And @Leonardo Fava that is a good point regarding the custom fields on Actions - we currently aren't using any and there's so many possiblities with custom fields.

    Thanks everyone!
