Spring Signs

It has been a long string of cold winter months in my home state of Michigan, and things have been bleak around here lately, but when I returned home yesterday after an unpleasant doctor's appointment, I found my lilac bush had unexpectedly burst into bloom and it brightened my whole outlook—I even brought a clipping to a friend that's been down in the dumps, the fragrance was so uplifting! As we're going into another rainy weekend forecast, has anyone else experienced a surprising sign of spring that might bring some positivity to the community?

Around here, it's Kentucky Derby time. So, lots of pretty spring colored attire leading up to what is now a full couple weeks of festivities. Oaks and Derby are basically holidays here, so the good vibes and moods and meetings with VIP's all kind of blend into a nice Springy time.

I, too, love when our lilac bushes blossom. I throw open our windows as often as I can. When the breeze blows and I'm working at home and catch a whiff, I just stop for a moment, close my eyes and inhale. That scent just does wonders.

For us here in Charleston, there are two seasons that signal Spring is arriving. The first is azalea season where our town is flush in beautiful pinks and reds. After the azaleas retreat for the year, the star jasmine comes out and our town smells heavenly!

Cherry and redbud blossoms! I love looking up at the beautiful trees in bloom that tell me winter is finally over and wakens the gardening bug in me.

The bluebells have finally finished blooming here and now the irises are out. One of our rose bushes is also in full bloom - which feels pretty early in the year!

Southern CA has a lot of flower blooms in spring but my favorite signal of spring is the abundance of emails regarding upcoming graduation that my org sends out. I love seeing all the faces of the students as they gear up for the next chapter.
