Chronic WebView Latency Affecting Daily Operations

I experience significant performance issues with NXT WebView every day. Many tasks take an unusually long time to process and often end in a timeout. For example, even a simple action like marking records as deceased can result in the green processing indicator running for several minutes before an error message appears. This is just one instance, but the delays occur throughout WebView.

These issues happen consistently whether I’m working on‑site or from home, and both locations have high‑speed internet, so the problem doesn’t appear to be related to connectivity. It seems there may be a broader issue with WebView performance, or possibly with Citrix Workspace. At this point, it’s extremely difficult to complete work in WebView due to the repeated timeouts and processing failures. Is anyone else experiencing this?

  • I see slow performance with most everything I do in webview - just displaying a constituent record takes longer than it should. For day-to-day work I can only use webview to get work done.

  • Agree with the above - although I like some elements of webview for fundraisers, all admin tasks seem to take longer due to loading and scrolling time.

Everyone using RENXT experiences this. I'm not sure if that makes you feel better or worse, but you are not alone!

Blackbaud is aware of the problems and is taking steps to minimize the latency. You can hear more about this in the upcoming Product Update Briefings (PUBs). Registration for those free sessions can be easily found with a Google search.

  • Yes, even when doing data entry on an invoice, when I tab to the next field I have to wait a couple seconds for the data to populate and if I move too quickly, it will glitch and lose the data and I have to start over. Blackbaud is rushing to move everything away from database even though Webview is clearly not perfected yet. And now they have announced they will be forcing AI onto the platform, so get ready for it to get even slower.

  • This has been happening to us for at least a month!! Sometimes we can't load a record at all, sometimes all of the tiles don't load and we get the dreaded "something went wrong" error, etc.

And it's not just constituent records - I've also had issues with lists, events, and queries - there was one case where I was building a query and it just totally crashed, and I lost all my work!

We've been working with support because the status page wasn't reporting any issues, so we thought it was just us. Based on this post, it sounds like others experiencing this also.

  • Thank you for posting this. Our team is having the same issue. I worked with the support awhile back and they blamed it on my organization's firewall. I've run speed tests and the issue is not on our end. It also occurs when working at home and other locations.

@Megan Tope You have helped my mental sanity! Yesterday a donor came in and requested copy of an attachment from his record. The attachment tile was gone. Checked with co-worker. His was there. Refreshed several times and still no tile.
Later in the day it was back and as well as the others I hadn't even noticed were not displaying in my attempt to quickly get the doc for the donor.

  • Yes, having issues as well. Page load times are slow, and we experience latency specific to fields during data entry. Hoping this will improve as our org is beginning this month to start transitioning all of our operational staff onto web view. 😬

  • This sounds awful. I have rarely experienced this issue while using RENXT for different organizations. Wondering what browser everyone is using. I only use Chrome so unsure how RENXT reacts in other browsers.

It is slower than database view, to be sure. I do feel compelled though, to offer the silver lining, and that is its greater speed in processing multiple queries and reports simultaneously. Earlier this week, I was on a time crunch to issue a financial summary which involved running 14 different RE reports in just a few minutes. Although a single report running in webview takes longer than a single report in database view, it was much faster to click through and get 3 or 4 reports running simultaneously while the first one was still processing. Especially as my database view decided to be glitchy and start issuing "no print driver" errors after the second report that morning.

I think the native slowness of webview is going to affect certain roles more negatively than others, especially the single-point data entry functions. And I, and everyone in my office, will cheer when the issue is improved and the green loading dot blips away into obscurity. But if you have a heavy admin load, it can actually be faster due to its ability to multitask.

I use Chrome and most others in our office as well. So slow.

  • It is painfully slow in webview, our efficiency has gone down trying to get things to update in WV. Waiting for the blue and green dot of death. Then getting an oops something went wrong try again and then you have to go back to the beginning and start all over. Trying to quickly look at a donors gift record while on the phone with them and having to constantly say thank you for your patience, meanwhile gift data isn't loading or the donor info at the top doesn't load. It is frustrating. Then you check status.blackbaud.com and everything is operational and green :( We still use databaseview for what we can, it is quick and responsive still a lot more efficient when talking with donors.

  • Web view is very difficult to work in. Everything takes 10-20 seconds to load which adds up when doing projects and really lowers our productivity. Additionally, it's hard to help donors in a timely manner when they are waiting on the phone for their records to load. When database view disappears we are very concerned what it's going to look like depending only on NXT.

  • NXT Webview is slow, sometimes painstakingly so. I am apologizing to numerous donors when trying to look up their gifts or make changes. There are blue and green dots consistently which signal delay, delay, delay and cause much frustration even without donors on the phone. At this point, honestly, I default to Database View to get work done faster. It's much more efficient. Definitely concerned to only have NXT Webview in the future.

We've been experiencing intermittent slowness which has gotten worse over the past month. Constituent tiles sometimes are very slow to load or fail outright. Refreshing usually fixes things, but is irritating. Support requests a HAR file (which is massive after refreshing a page) then does not have an effective way to receive it. I'm sure chat will be turned off at the PUB…

  • I've experienced this as well. The past week or so has been especially bad in terms of performance. Web view often slows down so much as to be unusable. Even when web view is running "normally" it's slow. Everything takes time to load and requires more scrolling and clicking than database view. I typically have database view open all the time and I have found that DBV usually runs fine even when web view is having issues. I'm not sure what's going to happen when DBV finally goes away and we no longer have that to fall back on.
