New Proctor tab -- not allowing students to continue

Is anyone else having issues with allowing students to resume/extend dates for assignments? Since the Proctor tab was added, I've had more teachers with issues than in the entire year. They can see the options on the proctor tab, they set to extend due date or allow resubmit, but the student isn't able to do anything. The assignments have "allow student to continue independently" checked.

Just checking to make sure I'm not missing something.

  • @Diana Holden - One of our teachers ran into the issue last week, and support tracked down the following issue:

This is Akhila from Blackbaud Support. I'm writing in reference to case number 020873269, which we have open regarding, Proctor Tab - Context Menu Button Not Behaving as Designed.

After further research, I was able to find a solution that will resolve this behavior. If you refer to the steps below, they should be able to resolve your issue:

If assessments are not included in the gradebook the option to extend the assessment for a student will be missing. The extend feature is directly tied to the Late status for gradebook assignments. If the assessment isn't included in the gradebook the Late status cannot be applied and the option to extend the assessment will not be displayed.

To include the assessment in the gradebook

    1. Faculty > Classes > Choose class section
    2. Assignments
    3. Select the context menu (...) next to the assessment > Edit
    4. Select Edit details
    5. In the evaluation section of the details select the "Add to gradebook" checkbox.
    6. Save.

For your convenience. Please reference the article mentioned above. This will allow you to share this article with others, and reference it a later point in time, if need be

Hope this helps with your issue.

  • @Scott Chrysler , thanks! It looks like my teacher does have the assignment in the gradebook. I'll submit a ticket to support in case there is something else going on. As a workaround, the teacher created a copy of the assignment for the students to complete, but this isn't a feasible long-term solution.
