Print Tickets With Barcode In Lieu Of Ticket Number In String Format

Hello Everyone,

I'm a volunteer for a small museum and am dissatisfied with one of the processes we use to track and input physically printed tickets with Blackbaud Altru. Currently, when printing a ticket we must physically enter the ticket number into Altru to track the ticket after using Altru to charge and print the same. When someone has purchased a ticket online, a barcode is automatically generated, which we then use to scan and register a guest. Wanted to ask if anyone is familiar with a way to print tickets that feature a scannable barcode? I would imagine being able to scan the barcode in the same fashion as online ticket purchases would be a more streamlined process for our front desk. If anyone knows how to automatically tie ticket generation into a native tracker so no scanning of physically printed tickets is necessary, that would be even better.

I'm only a volunteer. I do not have much access to systems settings. I would have to confirm what standard and method is being used for retention and storage of ticket, I assume in a Microsoft Access database. I also assume the string being printed on the tickets is the same tracking ID as the barcodes being issued online. With your advice I would like to talk to the person who is managing our digital efforts into a potential solution that appears to be solely a processes issue. We expect to have a large event with 1000+ people soon and I want to save my fellow staff time for more important efforts than copy/pasting a numeric string using the same software that automatically registers barcodes.

In case it is important, our receipt printer is a STAR-TSP100III and Card Reader is a Verifone P4000Plus.

Thank you!
