Using Recurring Gift & Recurring Gift-Pay-Cash in RE & FE

Hello all!

I hope all is well. Can any one explain best practice when using Recurring Gift & Recurring Gift Pay Cash in RE & FE? Just became a member of a development team that uses pledge for Recurring Gifts. They way they know that the gift is a recurring gift is they type it into the gift reference. Shouldn't recurring gift & recurring gift pay cash be used for recurring gifts? Does it mean something isn't set up right in FE/FE NXT? Please advise

How pledge vs. recurring gift is defined will vary from org to org. At my previous org if commitment was for a certain amount it was a pledge.  If it was open-ended to continue indefinitely, it was a recurring gift. (I'm still determining how the two are defined at new org.)  So how are the two defined by your org?  Both can have regular scheduled payments. 


I would agree that noting that in the gift reference might not be the best practice.
