Hi,

I'm thinking of starting a promotion where members who refer new members earn rewards.


My needs in Altru include:

Tracking WHO referred WHO. What comes to mind is relationship, but iI don't think this is webform friendly for online transactions. Gift comes closer in terms of linking two records, but that is based on who gives the payment, so won't work. Online aside, I'd want fields that can be referenced with merge fields in a communication. I could use a new relationship types, something like Referrer and Referred.


I also need to offer and track REWARDS for participating. Benefits can' work, as rewards won't be for al lin a member level. Looking for other ideas, perhaps Membership Attribute? I need to mark when Rewards have been fulfilled. Any ideas for fields to create in code table?


For the reward, I'm thinking of using a promo code for a discount on a program, rather than a physical item. I'd want this to be a one time use custom promo code that can't be shared around.


How best to COMMUNICATE with those who participate? Acknowledgement won't work as I pull records for those based on revenue. Would appeal work? I'm thinking the query would filter on the relationship type, membership transaction date and whatever field we use for tracking rewards in status of not fulfilled.


I am welcome to any other suggestions as well as any samples of promotions that encouraged members to refer others.

How did this work out? I keep thinking of an old RE attribute of Source or some such...how in the end did you link the sale/referral?
