Adjustable Membership Discount

Does anyone know a work around for an adjustable membership discount?

For example -

A guest comes in and buys four tickets at $10 each = $40. Later the guest decided she wants to apply her tickets toward an annual membership. Our memberships are set up as individual (one adult) or dual (two adults) and children are "add-ons." The guest buys an individual membership for $30 and adds on three children for an additional $45, totaling $75. But when we go to apply her tickets it will only apply $30 - the value of the base membership. The system won't ally us to apply tickets to the add-ons. The same situation applies if we go through the back office. It will let us manually zero out the base cost of the membership but won't allow us to discount the add-ons.

We could create membership promotional discounts but with coupons that may be added to the original tickets, there would be too many different options to account for. Plus it only lets us apply the promotion one time so we would not only have to create multiple dollar amount options but duplicates of each to account for all of the possibilities.

Has anyone else had this issue? Or have any ideas?

  • I'm interested to see what solutions others have come up with for this!

We have "applied admission" as a payment type which allows more flexibility for the amount applied. When using the payment type there isn't an original sale with admission attached, so our accounting team does have to make sure that the funds get transferred from admission to membership on the back end of things. But it allows some wiggle room with how admission can be put toward membership!
  • Oh that's a good idea! Thanks!
