FE & RE Integration

We are working through our implementation now and I'm working through our current processes to see how they are going to change as we move to FE. We will be integrating with RE, so here's my plan and I would like feedback please. We will record gifts in RE to the individual accounts using a batch. We will then post that to GL once completed. We will run a Deposit Ticket in RE to give to the accountant to record the deposit in FE on the bank register side, not posting it to the GL. This way, my bank register and my GL stay in sync and match the deposit that's sent to the bank. Does this sound feasible? Do I have to list all the detail for my FE bank register deposit, since I will have detail from the RE side? Can the same person that posted the FE deposit also do my bank recs (internal control)? Would I be better off using a clearing account on the RE side and not going straight to the bank account and then move it from the clearing account to the bank account by using the FE activity? How do others do this process?

  • Hi Laura Lehnen‍,

I noticed a peer hasn't answered your question in the FE Community. You may want to check out the RENXT integration forum in the Raiser's Edge Community. I see a similar question listed to yours.

    Hope this is helpful,

  • We are integrated with RE/FE and have coded the "RE Funds" with Bank Account number as well as Donation account - so when we do GL download it bring over all the Donations and Cash Transactions. We do batches in RE and as long as the Development people put in the correct date for posting - we have been able to reconcile bank accounts
  • Hello- I post from RE by date and not batch but otherwise very similar. I attach the actual checks or copies of the online gifts to the posting for finance to have back up detail for the auditors.

your auditors may prefer a separate person do the bank rec.

I post from RE straight to the bank acct and it works well. We reconcile the 2 databases monthly..
