No Valid Addresses

The Has no Valid addresses in our system doesn't seem to be linked in any way with the Send Mail flag on addresses. We have people marked with No Valid Address but who have addresses flagged to send mail. Does anyone know, is this supposed to be automated - if an address is set to Send Mail = Y then the No Valid Addresses is set to FALSE and conversely? Or is this something that needs to be maintained manually? Thanks

Yes and no. The two as stand alone manual options are not connected/have no affect on each other. As you Laura Hill‍ described no valid address can be checked by a user when there are valid addresses or vice versa.


When one runs the BB address processing functions, if preferred address is found to not be valid the send mail box is unchecked and the no valid address box is checked. There is this integration I've seen.

They are independent of each other. You might have numerous reasons to have the "Send Mail" unchecked aside from a bad address (seasonal, child's home address, etc.). While it would make sense the opposite way, to have the "No Valid Address" automatically uncheck the "Send Mail" button, this does not happen automatically. No need to do it all manually, though. Run a query on affected constituents and correct the settings in bulk through a Global Change. Otherwise, you can still easily filter such recipients from your mailing lists via your export settings.
