fundraiser security
Is it possible to limit fundraisers' permissions to access constituents who are not in their portfolio? I assume that if this were possible it would be somewhere in permissions or roles, but I have looked and not found it. Our goal is to allow fundraisers to see their assigned donors but no one else. Can someone please help? Thank you.

@Audrey Katzman This is pretty much what the Work Center does in RE NXT. Fundraisers only see the constituents that they are assigned to and no one else. Located in Fundraising, Work. Although I am not sure why you would want to restrict fundraiser's from not seeing certain records just because they are not in the person's portfolio, especially since fundraiser's portfolios can change all the time. Denying access seems somewhat short-sighted to me and I could see issues arising with this.

@Audrey Katzman - It is possible to restrict access through out the database using Gift Security by Fund, Security by Notepad Type, Action Security by Type, and Security by Constituency.

@Audrey Katzman While work center just shows their assigned constituents, anyone with access to RE can open and view records. @Austen Brown's list of fields are the only options I'm aware of to limit viewing access to the entire record.
However, each fundraiser having their own funds, notepads or action type is not very practical, IMO. It could be done by constituency but would require adding each fundraiser as a constituency code (and keeping it updated) and updating all the security profiles to only allow viewing of records with their own code. Seems like a lot of work for little benefit.
Is it really that big of an issue for a fundraiser to be able to access the record of others' assignees?

Thank all of you for your suggestions. I will review your thoughts with my Development Director.

@JoAnn Strommen this is the first year we are allowing our fundraisers to use NXT webview and we want to be sure what is/is not possible for fundraisers to see. Thank you for your answer.

@Joe Moretti thank you for your help. I will review everyone's thoughts with my Devel. Director and colleagues.

I am seconding @Austen Brown's and @JoAnn Strommen's advice. I would add that I can see a benefit to restricting access to certain fundraisers, IF you are enabling access for non-Development fundraisers, such as Board members, student workers, and volunteers. I may want my volunteer fundraiser to be able to add actions and notes out on the field, perhaps, without having access to my entire database. (At our own org, in the past we have restricted access to certain Note types, because we were letting our college recruiter use the system and add confidential notes to candidates that we did not even want our own Development staff to view.) If the fundraisers are within your department, though, like JoAnn I can't see the gain.
Your reasons for wanting to restrict access will have to determine your approach. Perhaps it's alright for your Board to see your entire donor list, but you don't want them to view gift history. Then, simply restrict that user's viewing rights for gifts. (They can bring any pledges to your gift entry staff for adding.) Perhaps you don't want volunteers to read other people's notes. Then, create a Note Type especially for them and restrict to only that.
