Merging Funds Together

Hello,

I want to clean our database and noticed we have like 5 different funds that all mean the same thing. They also have gifts attached to those funds from a long time ago, we also use Financial Edge. Does anyone know of a method to merge funds together?

@Kassidy Castellanos I'm not aware of any way to merge funds.
Thoughts:

• Talk to accounting - how do they want to account for any change?
• You could leave all funds as they are, especially if not recently active, and mark funds as inactive in RE & FE, save 1. We have done this from time to time. Note on fund record what fund to use.
• If you do gift adjustments, it provides an audit trail and can connect in with FE. Pro - all $ would pull on report of one fund. Con - you won't be able to delete old funds as the previous funds will still exist on records but can mark as inactive.
• You could consider changing fund on duplicate fund gift records if no historical record is needed. You would need to create a gift query of the gifts in dup funds, unpost using the unpost plug-in (use with care), change fund on gift record, and mark gifts as posted. Clear this with your FE people. This would take care of RE. They would need to do a manual adjustment of $ in FE.
