FAX data not appearing in NXT from RE DB View

How has this been missed? I am creating a clean-up query project for inactive "phones" in NXT - and interestingly enough - even thouth the data is "recognized" in the NXT Query, it is not available in the Constituent Record. I have to open RE DB View in order to see the data. I realize that I don't use a FAX, but many of our partners and donors do.

    I noticed this about 6 months ago. It is an easy fix:

    As they all had the phone type of fax, I went into the configuration and changed Phone number type to Telephone number. As an international school we do not appreciate the phone number format.

    Here is a screenshot of our configuration. I don't think it is worth an ideabank as hardly anyone uses fax and this is an easy fix. Just a little education on Blackbaud's part would do the trick.

    I hope this helps :)

  • Interesting! I'm experiencing the same issue.

    I have not worked with anyone who is still tracking Fax numbers, but that does not mean the phone type should not be available. It makes me wonder if there are any other phone types that are not available.

  • Elizabeth, I would think this information would be available in the Knowledge Base - as I spent quite a bit of time looking for it there before I posted this. I agree on the use of FAX, but when trying to clean up the database, if you can't see it, you can't fix it.

    I appreciate your quick response on how to fix this, I am on it now!

  • I agree with you, but that doesn't help me clean up our database, so glad Elizabeth found the answer.

    @Crystal Bruce

    Is there someone you can share this with that could add something to the Knowledgebase or make it more obvious if it is there. @Marietta Doney lost time looking for this answer there coming up empty. It is also true that it is out of sight so very out of mind. I redid all my phone types about 6 months ago which is how I found it. I was surprised they hadn't included fax with phones.

  • I agree. Especially since, at least in our db and I suspect we are not the only ones, some phone numbers are mistyped as Fax from the days when people had one phone number and a phone that they could switch between fax and landline and if someone called them while the device was turned to fax, the number may have been switched to "fax" type….

    Didn't realize until these posts that fax number were not displaying in RE. Thanks for the quick fix @Elizabeth Johnson.

    LOL - I know I have some records with fax. Ran a query - way more than I expected. Half are companies.
