Hi all!

My name is Jessi, and I'm the Product Manager for Core. Yesterday, John Vogel and I hosted the Education + Blackbaud ID Modernization webinar. We had some technical challenges, so in case you missed part of the webinar or were unable to find links within the webinar, here's what you need:

Here is the link to re-register and watch the webinar play-back.
*Note: we are working on follow-up for all unanswered questions in the Q&A section. The Attendee Chat was unmonitored as noted on Slides 2 and 9.

Here are all 14 links from the presentation:

Hope you have a wonderful weekend!

  • @Jessi Walters is anything changing if my users only login using the MySchoolApp? I'm preparing to communicate the change to my users but the last statement on the Core home page under Blackbaud ID heading has me confused a bit. If my users (parents and students) sign in through myschoolapp only, nothing is changing for them? It's only if they sign in via blackbaud.com where they will see something different? This is what it states on the Core dashboard -

“2. A modern and attractive Blackbaud ID page will appear for Education solution users on April 16, 2024; your existing logo will be centered right above the login actions. (Your myschoolapp login page remains unchanged.)”

    Thank you,

    Mary Revie

@Mary Revie, the BBID changes will be seen by everyone who is not on Single Sign-on (SSO). The only piece of the new login flow that won't be seen by current students and parents is the part of the BBID workflow that offers the 4 different authentication method buttons - your existing users will land on the appropriate page for their email address based on their current type. The new login flow is more intuitive than before, so we expect the process to positively affect the successful login rate of your users.

You can review my slides from the webinar here: https://docs.blackbaud.com/bbid-docs/migration

Also, an email is about to hit inboxes announcing a date change - the new experience will be live on Tuesday, 4/23 for users of myschoolapp and mycampus-app.

  • @Jessi Walters thank you. I do understand the SSO users will change in October, at least that's what timeline is at the moment, and anyone using myschoolapp won't see anything different. So, if someone accesses our school site by logging into Blackbaud.com they will see the new version of logging in?

@Mary Revie No, I think we've crossed wires somewhere. I'll start from the beginning.

On 4/23 for non-SSO users (like parents):

    • Parent A (a current user) will go to yourschool.myschoolapp.com, enter their email, and click Next.
    • They are automatically redirected to Blackbaud ID, which will have the new look & feel with your school logo centered on the page. Users will land on the BBID page that shows the appropriate next step based on whether that email address uses Email/Password, Continue with Google, or Continue with Apple.
      • This is different than what they saw before 4/23, which always showed all the authentication options - enter your password or pick one of the Social Sign-in buttons.
    • After they finish signing in, they are still automatically redirected to your portal.

On 4/23 for SSO users (like students or staff):

    • Student A will go to yourschool.myschoolapp.com, enter their email, and click Next.
    • They are automatically redirected to the SSO identity provider - bypassing the Blackbaud ID page just like they do today

After a new SSO connection is established by the admin (between May(ish) and October) for SSO users:

    • Student A will go to yourschool.myschoolapp.com, enter their email, and click Next.
    • They are automatically redirected to the SSO identity provider - bypassing the Blackbaud ID page just like they do today

By the end of April, everyone who lands on the BBID sign in/up page - which is everyone except SSO users on education solutions - will see the new BBID experience, regardless of where they begin the login process.
