Welcome Series Distress in Luminate
I'm trying to set up a Welcome Series in Luminate and I'm having difficulty creating the query logic. I want first transaction date equals 1 day prior to today (I also have First Gift Date that I could select) I also want to select only Direct Mail, Monthly, Unsolicited, Telemarketing - but 'campaigns' don't seem to be an option to select. I was just wondering if anyone can help? Thank you.

Hi, @Wendy Turner! Thank you for posting this interesting question related to a Luminate welcome series you're creating. I'm on the Luminate Services team, and I'll connect with my colleagues to see if there might be an option for you — something along the lines of donor source type. This is for a new donor welcome series, correct? Be back soon with an answer. TY!

Thanks Nyleva! I thought I got the RE New Donor Welcome workflow going, but something is going wrong. The list had 5 new donors in it, but this morning no action was stamped to my fundraiser account and the list is now empty!

Hi @Wendy Turner ,
The Campaign field isn’t available within the Query tool. I recommend confirming that your Campaign and/or Donation Form is configured to place constituents into Groups at the time of donation.
Once that is set up, you can use a Group clause in your query to target those constituents.
Helpful references to add constituents to Groups:

Thank you for the group clause idea, @Luis Brooks!
@Wendy Turner, let us know if you have success with the group clause in your Luminate query, once your RENXT workflow is back in action.
Thank you both!

I will look into this. In the meanwhile, I'm trying to set up the workflow in RE NXT. I thought I had it, but something is going wrong. The list had 5 new donors in it yesterday at around noon, but this morning no action was stamped to my fundraiser account and the list is now empty!

HI Luis, I"m circling back on this and am exploring groups. Do you know if I can configure auto group adds to put first time donors to the org into a group?

Hi @Wendy Turner
This can be accomplished using Queries and Groups in Luminate Online. You can create a query to identify first‑time donors using one of the following criteria:
First Transaction Date = within X days of today
OR
Lifetime Transaction Count = 1Once the query is created, you can use the query results to generate a Group. That group can then be refreshed on a scheduled basis so new first‑time donors are automatically added as they meet the criteria.
If the Groups are being used for a new‑donor welcome series, you would typically create one query (and group) per message, for example:Message 1: First Transaction Date = 1 day prior to today
Message 2: First Transaction Date = 5 days prior to today
Message 3: First Transaction Date = 9 days prior to today
etc.Helpful documentation :

Use query results to generate a Group - https://webfiles-sc1.blackbaud.com/files/support/helpfiles/lo/content/data_management_advanced_query_usingqueryresults.htmlNote: If your site has an integration feeding constituent data back into Luminate Online, you may want to use External First Gift Date instead of First Transaction Date, as this can be more reliable in integrated environments.

This is great! But I guess there isn't a way of selecting campaigns ie only Monthly Donors, One Time Gifts, Direct Mail….etc. in LO. I don't want to include Tribute Gifts to the Welcome Series. Thank you so much.

Hey there, @Wendy Turner
I am a consultant on the team with Luis and Nyleva. I hope I can help answer your question above.
For sustaining donors, you will add under "Sustained Giving Information" and in the second dropdown, you will choose "Status". Then, you will use this selection three times to add three lines to the query with all three lines being wrapped in a parenthesis.e.g.
AND (Status equals Current Sustaining Donor
OR Status equals Lapsed Sustaining Donor
OR Status equals Partially Lapsed Sustaining Donor)
The reason for the lapsed and partially lapsed is that these are technically still a current sustaining gift. For lapsed, the last payment attempt had an issue (e.g. card on file expired, insufficient funds, maybe the card was reported lost or stolen and a new card number was sent tot he cardholder, but they haven't updated their information on file yet, etc.) and a partially lapsed status is where more than one sustaining gift is on the person's record and at least one of those gifts is experiencing an issue with payment processing.
For one-time gifts, you would flip the "equals" in the query logic above to "not equal to".
For Direct Mail, that might be something you need to track on your side by adding all direct mail people into their own group (e.g. through a data sync) and then you would add the group clause to your query, e.g. AND a member of direct mail group.
For anyone who is an honor/memorial tribute donor, you may need to add those people to a group. To do that, you can run a report where the gift is an honor gift under Fundraising > Donation Management on the Donation Reports tab or through a Report Writer report where you have a filter on the report to isolate honor/memorial gifts. From there, you can choose to add the results of the report to a group after it has run. Then, in your query, you would use the group clause option to have AND not a member of the tribute donors group as a part of the query's logic.
I hope you find this response helpful.
Thanks,
Will

This is awesome, thanks Will I appreciate your time….but what I want to do is exclude 'in tribute' or 'in honouor' gifts.
