Industry and Profession fields in WebView

I recently attended a webinar where I asked the question as to whether or not Blackbaud would be creating the Industry and Profession fields in Webview/NXT. The question was answered "Yes! Those will come to web view later this year." What is the estimated time for that? AND, where will those fields be on a constituent profile? Also, will you be moving existing data in those fields in database view over into NXT once the fields are created?

@Trit Mulligan Maybe you can add some information to this, but I suspect once those fields are viewable in webview the data that is already in them will be synced/moved over. Location I would hope would be on the relationship record(s) in the relationships tile, akin to where they are currently found in database view.

  • Thank you for your input. What I would REALLY like to know is WHEN the fields will show up in the Webview!! The original answer I got was "later this year". It's already mid-May. How much "later this year" will it be?!

Blackbaud recently released a feature map which is about as close you'll get to an answer. Industry is already available in the Constituent Summary tile. Profession does not appear on the grid at all.

I would check the Idea Bank to see if there are any ideas about it - I'm sure there are - and if there are any comments from Blackbaud.

  • Industry is available in the Constituent Summary tile if an organisation is a constituent, however, in the database view it's possible to record the industry in the organisation relationship even if the organisation is not a constituent. Industry is an important field for us but we don't always want to create a constituent record for a business relationship.

Hi all, thanks for the questions! Yes, these are planned for web view on relationship records specifically. As with most record fields, we'll bring forward data from database view.

As to timeline, extending constituent fields will be our next constituent priority once the tabbed view (in progress now) is complete. That places it in the last half of the year, probably the September to December range. We'll have a better sense once we finish the tabbed view, but that's my best estimate for right now.

I'll also take a look at the feature map and get that updated. Thanks for calling out the miss!
