Monthly snapshots for qty of active members over time

The membership reports are all over the place and I do not think Blackbaud has made any improvements on them. You can run so many different ones and get different numbers. The best I have found is the Month/Year Statistical Analysis and the Membership Statistics by Category. Both will give you the same answers, which is good compared to trying it with other ones. The monthly will work, but to get the snapshot in time, you need to have the current standing be ALL. That will pull the membership during that particular time. Of course some of those who were active at that time, can currently be lapsed, but they were active at that particular time frame. Remember ACTIVE is only included in the current membership portion, if they are still ACTIVE. That term does not appear in the history, it just lets you know if they are ACTIVE NOW. I know that can be confusing, but it will pull for that month anyone who was active during that month even if they are not active now.

I pulled from our database for July FY26 and a particular category (so I don't get a huge amount) and I get 45 Membership that were active at that time, even if currently they are no active anymore. The two below were members in July FY26, but now the one is still an active member and the other is not, they have lapsed, but both were members during July FY26. Hope this helps.

No, you would not need to run it 108 times, you just put your date range in the report. Give it a shot and see what it produces. But like I said, I find the membership reports not that great.

Yes, I went back and am finding the same issue and other issues as well, like someone popping up that does not even have a membership during the time frame I pick. I did say the membership reports are not great in RE. Not quite sure what that end members means. This report is supposed to show a snapshot in at the particular time with that whatever date, but it seems to be funky.

I know it is a mess. I have talked to Tech Support and no one has been able to figure any of this out. It should be simple, but yet it is not. Hope they come up with something much better in RE NXT, but I am not holding my breath.

The only one I feel is pretty good as far as counts is the Membership Statistics by Category, but it does not do it by month at least the way you want it, then it is doing 108 times.

This one seems to give correct counts and includes those who were lapsed during that date range. But like I said it does not break it down monthly unless you do it 108 times, which would be a waste of time.
