Creating Workable Daily Gift Reports in Unifiedview
I'm curious to know how other schools are creating daily gift reports for their leadership using Unified view/NXT. Are you using queries, dashboards, or workflows? Please share.

Hi @Stacye Jackson this seems like a great question for my All-Stars! Tagging in @Austen Brown @Karen Diener @Amy Dana for some insight!

Thank you @Crystal Bruce.

There is a wonderful starter Power Automate flow just for this. I don't have the link right off hand, but I think @Dan Snyder or @Alex Wong can point you in the right direction. You might be able to search for it, and it's a great workflow to use to learn how Power Automate works with RE. We used this to email a list with NXT links to the pertinent records every day after gifts were processed.

Here is a link to @Alex Wong's daily gift digest masterpiece:

Also recommend the Daily Gift digest as a good starting point and a great solution for what you're looking for.

Unfortunately, we do not have Power Automate. Is there an alternative?

Stacye, when you say "leadership," do you mean advancement leadership that should be using RE or do you mean school leadership that is unlikely to use RE? With all due respect to my esteemed colleague who have already chimed in, I disagree with sending any fundraiser, leadership or not, reports via email of donors and gifts since they all should be using and accessing RE daily. The simplest way to do what you're asking is for them to use a basic Gift list in the web view which by default lists all gifts in reverse chronological order as soon as they're entered. They can filter if they need to, they can change the columns and their order, and they can drill through to both the constituents and the gifts for more detail should they need it.

@bill connors, I can't say I disagree with you. To clarify, I am speaking of both advancement leadership and above.

@Stacye Jackson, we have the same request here. We don't process gifts everyday and the dev staff want a list of gifts on the days they are processed. Yes, they should be able to look at their home screen in NXT themselves but they don't. Or somedays when payroll, ACH, EFT gifts abound, they don't look far enough to find the gift from the donor in their portfolio.
Our previous staff member would run a gift list in NXT and send the list link to each of the dev staff. She had set up some type of teams/email group. (I thought it was unnecessary and quit while I covered between staff.) Our new staff member has been requested to resume this.

JoAnn, I think a little tough love is needed here — THEY want it, so they need to do it. Regarding focusing on gifts from donors in their portfolio: that's exactly what the Gifts tab is for in the Work Center: it will show all and only gifts given by those in their portfolio even if the fundraiser's name isn't on the gift as the gift's fundraiser (solicitor). (Well, and the gifts where the fundraiser is on as the gift fundraiser, but folks don't frequently use that field.)
To the larger conversation at play here: I would further add to bolster these points that email is not a secure communication platform. You wouldn't send credit card or SSNs via email, even internal email, why would you send donors' names and giving to everyone in the office on every email account every day?

I'm not going to disagree with you here @Bill Connors. I will present a caveat that the work center is not really an end-all be-all solution. There are times we need to present data about gifts to administration and/or leadership that do not and should have access to RE. There's also organizational culture to take into consideration. I definitely believe that advancement folks need to be in their work center daily and should see those gifts there, but sometimes there is a need for more visibility, and this may be an example of that.
@Stacye Jackson, without PA you're going to left with queries and lists, and like Mr. Connors mentioned above, your advancement staff should already have access. I would consider a custom tile project that can be placed on everyone's home NXT page/tab. That doesn't solve the problem for leadership that don't have logins to NXT, which puts you right back at emailing lists and query results.

Thanks, @Dariel Dixon. I agree with you that the Work Center is not all that it should be and I hope — and pray! — that as Blackbaud finishes up the migration work from the db view that more attention will be paid for it to make it an even better tool for fundraisers. And I would agree with you that executive users "above" advancement/development leadership I wouldn't expect to even have RE logins let alone use them.
But I also don't expect them to need to see every gift that comes in every day and would argue that any executive leader that feels the need to be that engaged in fundraising should then, in fact, be given an RE login and access that data that way.
I am adamantly opposed to regular, large-scale email distribution of named donor and their giving information to anyone, including executives. I confess to being upset by the almost self-righteous indignation of executives over the Blackbaud breach years ago or "AI models being trained on our data," and then expecting spreadsheets or reports of sensitive constituent data to be emailed to them at their whim. An executive either believes in the protection of constituent data and practices it, or they don't, they can't say one thing and practice another. "I'm too important" or "I'm too busy" are not acceptable excuses IMHO. 😊
