Retrospectively Adding Events to RENXT

Hi Everyone, Happy New Year!

We are relatively new adopters of Raiser's Edge and haven't used the Events module at all yet - do you think there is much value in retrospectively adding events that we ran in 2025 and their participants?

We are interested in prospecting and I was thinking that a record of events attended would be a useful metric

Any thoughts / suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

James

  • It all depends on how you will use the data from a reporting standpoint. How you plan to load historical data. It becomes a work effort vs impact vs. outputs.

It might take a bit more work, in terms of organizing the import file, as you would want to link participants to gift records, if applicable. Perhaps for any historical data you could simply create a constituent custom field Category = XYZ Event, Description = Participant, Guest, Sponsor. Same result but a little less work from an import perspective.

If you want to have a record of their engagement/attendance, yes, go for it. That info can be beneficial, IMO.

Long shot, but If you possibly have the list of names with their RE ID, email, or a way to pull them into a constituent query, you can do a global add to the event.

@James Blanchflower you have gotten great advice from @JoAnn Strommen and @Lucy Ruiz in that it all depends on if you are using it in some sort of reporting, whether that be engagement or year over year comparisons if you hold annual events.
