Searching by email or phone number is NXT?
Can we not search a Constituent by their phone number or email address in RE NXT on the regular search bar? Is that only available in database view?

Hi Lena, thank you for replying. Perhaps I am missing it, but searching directly in the search bar does not yield this result. You are showing me a specific Constituent List search? But is there a way in the Home screen Search bar to search for phone number or email, not via a Constituent List?

Hmmm, I tested it again and it immediately started working! Not sure what changed but I guess the squeaky wheel gets the mysterious grease. Thank you for your help.

You have to enter the phone number in the exact way it would show on the record. That is, for ex. if your records use (123) 456-7890 then that's how you need to enter it into the search bar.
you can also search by using email in the main search bar.

LOL so apparently db view is 'smarter' than NXT as it can find phone without the formatting and can find partial emails.
Will miss that ability when we are trying to find a stray record.8 -
Yeah. WV doesn't allow for wildcards the way dbv does, which is indispensable for searching (at least for me)

I am not experiencing the same need for specific formatting.
I entered my phone number with hyphens and with periods: ###-###-#### and ###.###.####
When I search my phone number in the constituent search bar, with no punctuation - ########## - I find my record.
It works with email addresses too.

Today it's working for me too the way you describe. I wonder if yesterday was some glitch… Good to know that we can type a phone number any which

I wish that it could search on partial email addresses and phone numbers instead of keying in the entire thing.

I noticed the other day that it didn't find by email in the webview search bar if that email address was marked inactive. Is that consistent with others' experience? Is that the intended functionality? My first thought is that that's not ideal, since we may not know whether a given email is marked inactive or not on someone's record.

I just tested with a search for an email marked as inactive on MW's record. Did not find record. Searched with an active email on MW's record and it found him. So yes, my experience as well. Intended functionality? I agree not ideal.

NXT definitely needs to bring back wild card and partial search options. It can be very frustrating and time-consuming when some partial searches work but others that seem obvious don’t. It would make finding records much easier if the search were more flexible.

Yes, it seems webview treats inactive contact information as if it doesn't exist. It's extremely frustrating. Why even leave them on the record if they're not searchable, and generally hidden from view on the record?
