EFT Payment Type

Howdy All,

I was just looking to get a good idea of what other organizations do.

When entering EFT gifts, what payment method do you and your organization use? (For clarity, I am referring to the hard coded one where you can only code it as: Cash, Personal Check, Business Check, Other, Credit Card, Standing Order, Direct Debt, Voucher, PayPal and Venmo.)

Our organization uses the Other option, however, we do things in a really odd manner in a lot of other facets so I just wanted an outside perspective to see what others do.

Thanks! 🤠

All of my clients use Other for EFTs/Wire Transfers.

We also use "other." (You have a couple options we don't have. Standing Order / Voucher ? )

We do use a Gift Code of EFT as well as a gift attribute for generating reports on EFTs.

We also use other - and with Standing Order in the Gift subtype field for Standing Orders to maintain consistency with the data entered into our previous database that was imported.

Saying that though, we do use Voucher for the gifts we receive electronically from Voucher companies 🤣but that does keep the not eligible for Gift Aid part up straight for them

  • We also use the "Other" Payment Method, and then we also use a Gift Attribute/Custom Field for "Payment Type" where we can specify EFT among other things (i.e., Paypal, DAF Check, Foundation Check, etc.).

  • Yes, Other for us too.

  • We use other as well. We also use a Gift Constituency Code of Foundation and we have a Constituent Code of Foundation and Donor Advised Fund for things like Fidelity gifts.

Hi, @Alma Iglesias, you're not the only one who works in a place where things are done differently. My finance people request spreadsheets of gifts from me each month that they use to reconcile with separate software on their end. Here's an odd outlier for you: I currently enter wire transfers and direct deposit gifts as gift type = cash, pay method = direct debit, bank = unknown. I've only been at this org for a little over a year and a half, so this may change, but for now, that's where I'm at.
