Increased number of chargebacks

Over the past 4-6 weeks we have seen a huge spike in chargebacks, all "fraud" and in looking closely, I believe they really are fraud. Most of the chargebacks have been from cardholders in Eastern Canada, though one came through this morning from Pennsylvania. I suspect there is a credit card theft ring selling people's information as all of the transactions passed AVS. Is anyone else seeing this problem?

  • Hi Jessica,

I did and they were not particularly helpful. Case 020774858. The charges are passing AVS. The most recent chargeback was on Friday night. I spoke with the ticket buyer, she did purchase admission tickets using Alipay (China's version of ApplePay), however the card that was actually charged was not hers. Looking at the transaction in BBMS I can see the ticket buyer's email and the email address for the cardholder. I truly believe there is something major going on that hasn't hit the press. 7 chargebacks just in the month of March, normal would be 1 or less.
